Way back on May 12th at Cardiff’s Offshore Music Recording Studios, after being near thwarted by the city’s maze-like one way systems, Mumford & Sons turned up with a cheeky sparkle in their collective eye. A sparkle that hinted at the bite & barely muted fury they’d inject into a damn near perfect session, recorded in lightning quick time & impressing the studio engineers to exclaim it the best session they’d had the pleasure of to date.
What resulted from those 2 sweaty hours in the cosy Offshore Music studio is a remarkably tight session from a truly remarkable band who, impressively, are unassuming & unaffected in the face of mounting attention that their brilliant songs & live shows are bringing their way.
The interview between the tracks is light & breezy; full of a band humbly taken aback by the spotlight &, to some degree, steadfastly ignoring it in order to concentrate on what it is they’re here to do: play music.
The session will be available for download from the Lounge Act pages over at WOXY, & eventually via TWRHQ, in a week or so.
Splashed either side of the session will be a brace of excellent new (& some old) tracks from new (& some old, yet criminally unknown) bands & artistes gleaned from the avalanche of promos dropping on the TWR mat, both physical & virtual.
Expect, then, the usual nonsense & blather from your convivials, with hints for birthday gifts & far too much information on mechanical sex toys.
Not bad for our first show broadcast from Austin, TX eh?

Well, that Mumford & Sons session was stupendously good! Even M.Chut listened with rapt attention and googled to see if perhaps that gorgeous voice was backed by a handsome face. You’ve seriously out done yourself here, DC!
Other highlights: of course Kill it Kid, who I really cannot get enough of and didn’t quite remember having a female lead vocal! And I like that Features song a lot also.
Now you know how excited I am about this duo, The Soil and The Sun. And you’ve been wonderful to give me a little shout out too! So thanks, and yes, you’ll be hearing more about them, as I’ve been following/stalking them ever since I laid ears on them a week ago. Thanks for putting them on this week, that song is a killer, xoxo
Cheers Tarticles.
The session was rather special. I have the outtakes, too, where they had to stop because they kept coughing through the vocals or fucking up the words, because one had a raging cold & the other was just tour battered. Great stuff. Very funny.
If you liked last week’s electic playlist then this week’s is gonna blow your toot. It’s quite mad. Lots of off-kilter epics, lots of foreign, lots of false ends, lots of what you wouldn’t expect you would expect.
Oh, & The Soil & The Sun are on, again, too.
