Taken with good humor (and a touch of lemon drizzle). Is anyone using his real name online these days?

<p>Very pleased we're reaching out to you wherever you is & you're gettnig past our nonsense ramble & enjoying the musics in our wonderful mess. We're hoping the ol' States-baiting is taken in the good humour we Limeys attempt.

Wow, what a fantastic episode! I've just started listening TWR (methodically, backwards from 15-Aug), and this one is a real stand-out among otherwise excellent material. I could have done without the 4th-of-July mocking. I live in Boston and am very aware of how manufactured the self-righteousness of the founders might seem, but a monarchy is a monarchy. That is, the intellectual basis for our little experiment here was strong. Plus, we're all friends now- nothing but love, right?

Anyway, so many stand-outs here, and all of the segments seemed really well conceived. Nice call on the REM-ish song by the Little Glitches (the REM version was 'Swan Swan Hummingbird' I think). Thanks for pulling all of this wonderful mess together.

Interesting choice for today's opening track. I'm not sure I love it, or even like it.. the album hasn't grown on me quite yet. And how many mins. was that thing? Wow, you've got a lot of faith in us on a holiday weekend! haha The gags were right on, we had a good laugh over the Bill of Rights one, especially. You're such a deviant.

highlights:
stellarstarr* - Move On... lovely, sad and just lovely
Revolver – Balulalow ... sounds like it's got some Beatles influence (no not the name, silly), it's nice
The Avett Brothers – I &#38; Love &#38; You.. well dangit, I like this one and I've vowed to not like the Avett Brothers! How do you pick just the right songs to make me change allegiances?
Nouvelle Vague – Road To Nowhere (Talking Heads cover) - I adore covers, this is superb... so crisp and clear.
Pick A Piper – Rooms... what a track this is!!! gorgeous!
Those Darlins – Hung Up On Me ...yes, love it, anything Rockabilly or countryPOP is cool with me right now. (emphasis on pop, not so much country)
Mannequin Men – Never Lived By Myself... brilliant!and I expected something more punkish but loved this anyway. I'm going to see them live this month, I'll report back ... if I survive it.
The Wind Whistles - The Sun ... this album is one I'm spending a lot of time with lately, it's captivating.
And you know I'm smitten with Skint &#38; Demoralised... yes still.

not entirely sold on:
Snowglobe – Nothing I Can Do... kind of ooompa beat which drives me batty, but i like the vocals and the strings are a great touch.
Petracovich – Heaven ... I'm sorry but it makes you wish for autotune. Really, honestly I don't intend to be mean but when the note goes flat on the end of phrases like that I'm predisposed to write the whole thing off.
Let's Wrestle – I Won't Lie To You... same problem with flat notes and just not my cup of tea.
The Fiery Furnaces – I'm Going Away ....interesting, but all these whiny voices?

That Roman Candle song is stuck in my head. That's a good sign, I've got to check that record out.

I know I base a lot of my criticism on the vocals in music. But forgive me, I'll say that I wager most casual fans do the same. I've become more forgiving the longer I listen to this obscure music but there is a line to be drawn somewhere. One bands experimentation is another's lack of talent or training and it's often difficult to discern which is which. At least it is for me, a person with little to no musical training. So, my advice (completely unsolicited! ha) to indie bands: take that for what it's worth... criticism from a non-musician fan. And decide if that bothers you or not.
