What, as ‘they’ say, Ho!
About a month ago ½DC + TWoTH trundled over to Bristol, England, for the weekend to see live & interview Dan Michaelson (of The Coastguards + Absentee). We set ourselves up in a swanky river facing hotel, spent the afternoon boozing it up on the deck of the Thekla ship venue, before catching up with a very tour-knackered Dan to knock off said interview for t’show.
Unfortunately, as is always the case, the choice of inteview location yadda yadda yadda. It being too windy outside (+ the deck was full of people chattering at that point) we opted for the hull of the ship (i.e. the venue for the gig itself). Unfortunately, the bar staff decided to try out the PA by blasting odd sea shanties, Irish ditties & bombastic/cheesy orchestra pop from the ’70s.
Sound bleed much? Jesus.
We knew it was loud, but only realised how loud when we came to edit the thing.
Apologies, immediatley, then, to Dan — we did discuss trying to find somewhere quieter, but there really wasn’t anywhere we could go — & to you, the listening few, for some of the sound clips are ropey to say the very bloody, & you might struggle to recognise the quality.
Nonetheless, it is a very good interview; Dan is a thoroughly nice bloke, witty, self-effacing & very dry.
There is, also, the slight matter of a competition to win a hand printed/numbered/signed limited edition 7″ vinyl copy of Dan Michaelson & The Coastguards‘ song Bust. So, answer us this, kids:

p.s. Apologies for the lateness of posting this one (isn’t there a pattern forming here?) but Friday saw ½DC entertaining the brilliance that is Celebrity Chimp in Cardiff for the day evening/following morning & afternoon. Following an excellent session the gang, augmented by TWoTH AND Mr. Fisk headed to a local arts centre & then to a rather nice pub, where they conducted one of the maddest interviews TWR has been involved with yet. Following that, whiskey flowed, Fisk had us in fits, TWoTH passed out from over-consumption, & a truly fantastic time was had by all. I’m not even going to mention the 18yo girls from South Africa (yet)…
This insanity, + the session, will be aired in about 4weeks time. Tune in, it’s seriously not to be missed
