Hello You & welcome to the welcome temporary state of flux what is The Waiting Room.
This week’s downloadable not at all bad show, includes such loveliness as: Hurray For The Riff Raff, Anna Ash & The Family Tree, The Kazoo Funk Orchestra, The Theatre Fire, Pia & Tora, Hanna Baummann, Pale Young Gentlemen, Rags & Feathers, Tom Williams & The Boat, Kría Brekkan & the ever embedded many, oh so very, more.
Aside from that, we bring you a rather exciting competition what is open to all Bands, Artistes, Musicians + pretty much anyone* who can knock out a tune on a handful of instruments:
it’s our BATTLE OF THE BRANDS COMPETITION.
No, that doesn’t refer to Russell Brand vs. Jo Brand in an insult-a-thon or snide-fest, it’s simply a rather tenuous title for our competition that invites all you clever music folk to write a brand new theme tune for that spatchcock of a thing we like to call The Waiting Room.
All you have to do is record a 45seconds instrumental piece of music (in the structure of a theme tune, naturally), in any style or genre - just as long as it is in-keeping with the show’s general feel.
The theme tune should be recorded as an MP3 (minimum bit rate 256kbps) or wav file, & submitted to us via (minus the paretheses) dc (@) twrhq.com BEFORE the end of December 2008.
We’ll choose the best out of the entries & use it on the first show, + every one thereafter, of 2009.
In addition, the composer of the best theme will get an entire show dedicated to them - which means they get to choose the 2hr format playlist (including their own/band’s compositions, if they so wish), + they’re invited to come to DCHQ studio to co-host their show, or simply be interviewed. Hell, given that the show gets listened to (& is downloaded up to 2000 times per show per week) in almost every internet friendly country around the globe, that’s one meaty slab of exposure for you & your cleverness.
In short, your music (in the shape of a theme tune) will be guaranteed airplay every show from here until we pull the plug. That could mean years & years & years, God help us.
So, make haste. The clock’s a-ticking.
