Yes, Mr Toad married, that wonderful relationship where you get to badger another person for a lifetime, where after 40 years of contention you take on the characteristics of your mate. You and Mrs Toad are tightly bound already and will probably grow very old together and may likely even resemble one another someday. Mrs Toad will drive you to the pub as you stare out the window, occasionally shouting a string of expletives for no apparent reason, yes Mr Toad ... married. Thanks for a very entertaining segment as well as a very entertaining response.

hee hee.

I actually enjoyed the Dollyness of the cover, but nowhere near as much as TWoTH - I like Nickel Creek & I could hear their influence right through it.

I was sure I heard you once say you positively hated ABBA, but maybe I'm mistaken. Emotional wasteland or otherwise, I would never say they're 'vaguely catchy' though. They have extremely complicated arrangements & harmonies, & are very gifted songwriters & throat merchants. Sure, some of it is tainted with the D.I.S.C.O.ness of the 70s, but fuck it. Not everything has to be in the minor key, eh?

Erm, no. Shit.

And I don't mind Abba in an inoffensive, vaguely catchy tat-pop sort of way. They just don't generate any emotions in me one way or the other.

Cheers Matthew.

It's odd I'd never heard it before as TWoTH has pretty much EVERYTHING that man has ever commited to vinyl.

Cheers, again, again, HH

:o)

We thoroughly enjoyed the show this week AND we were sober!

ErrorFM is a weird one - sometimes it throws up a wonderful DJ/show. e.g. Versetrane's Inoculated Radio on directly after TWR. It's proper eclectic, hugely varying in styles & content, very chatty, lots of guests & interviews & sessions, & generally a bloody good listen (if you can get over V's stuttergun delivery); the trouble is he cracks off at 12am UK time so I can only listen for as long as my eyes are in wide awakeland - but a cursory scan of Channel 1 will reveal, at its heart, a tepid soft rock/drive time mentality, mainly driven (no pun) by the DJs providing their own lifetime soundtrack playlists. That's the disadvantage, I guess, of allowing that amount of freedom.

I have noticed, however, that the autoplaylist is beginning to play more & more TWR sounding bands (if not the exact sorts we feature) as the months have gone on. I'm not saying we're influencing the output at all, especially as the bands they're playing are now receiving an avalanche of respectable coverage, but it makes a change from that anodyne shite that stopped me listenig to mainstream radio years & years ago.

Channel 2 fairs a little betterer, under the catch-all tag 'indie', & I guess that should really be our spiritual home (I'm not sure if the direction change of TWR music-wise, i.e. when I came on board, was a driving force behind the addition of Channel 2' & its 'indie' fest back last year) but we're happy to be the cherry on the turd cocktail :)

As for us being 'the best show' on Channel 1, we can't possibly comment but we have one purpose, with the risk of sounding like total twats: entertainment. Whether that's the music, the chat, the silly incidental celebrity stings, the Celebrity Muggings, Toad, the little jingles, or whatever. We try & keep it as broad as possible on the *ahem* humour front, as I do recognise a tendency of DJs crawling up their own cul de sac when being too exclusive (i.e. no one's going to get that joke outside of Delaware, for example) with their 'fun'. Sure, we are 'local', as in UK, humour-wise, but I think we pull off an inclusion to the moment. & maybe I'm spouting wank. It's ultimately the audience's call to continue listening & sending messages & the like, or simply to switch off the computer & go & do something less boring instead.

Either way, over 5,000 downloads worldwide this past month alone seems to indicate we're doing something right.

So, back to point, cheers HH - your comments are always welcome. & I agree the Toads do sound very 'married' ;)

Mr. Fisk is currently enjoying the end of the football (i.e. soccer) season over here (his team are very close to winning the FA Cup), but will be back in the navigator's seat I think next week.

Cf+Bf - thewaitingroom (@) btinternet.com'll be fine, mate; just remove the parentheses.

Cheers again, guys.

DC/2 and Mrs DC/2:
Thoroughly enjoyed this show. Excellent commentary , very funny and lively conversation, Mr Toad made me GROAN then surprised me with the detestable well coiffed crooner singing a tune from one of my all time favorite artists, the Pulp tune sung by Joe Jackson and Capt Kirk is one of my favorites. Mrs Toad did a very fine job, the interaction with Mr Toad is a hoot, they sound like a married couple. Leon Redbone… excellent selection, thanks for putting in the time.

By the way, Tuned into Error FM and was disappointed by the all too familiar hip California DJ spinning tunes from AM/FM radio. I think that you have the best show on that channel 1, lively, intensely interesting, very funny and dare I say cheeky. The woman of the house excelled once again, her previous exceptional performances were no accident evidebtly, nice to hear her. Where’s Mr Fisk?

Will do. Erm, what's your email address? When I hit "contact" up on the top right of this page it asks me to set up a podbean account, but it doesn't give me access to your email. And the little "Email it" thingy is only to share podbean. I think you have my email address so if you send me one I'll respond with some delights (of a strictly musical variety of course).

Cheers guys.

Really, really, really enjoyed tonight's show. The playlist was a gem to construct, & I could have put in a hell of a lot more had I the time allowed.

Not so 100% on the Toad's selections of The Flaming Lips & Richard Godwin, but overall I think this is the best one we've done in the series.

Thanks again for tuning in.

That's one prodigious playlist. A tour de force, DC!

you, then, most blwdy certainly should wake up tomorrow & feel like perspective has taken on an out of the ordinary appearance.

As David St. Hubbins opined after Tap's own "barbershop raga" cover of Heartbreak Hotel, "there's too much fucking perspective now."
