DC
Alice is a fabulous album, I play it over and over and never tire of it. I ran across TW when I lived in NYC and purchased "nighthawks at the diner". A few years later I purchased Swordfish trombones and didnt like it on my first listen, put it away for a few years then listened again, and again and again, then I decided that I would by every album that TW made. Your show made me realize that I have to finish buying his albums. mr Toads ramble about buying an album with one good track and 6 stinkers is correct, with Waits everything is excellent or good , there are no wasted tracks. He is just right on target.
I have to agree, his movie rolein Ironweed was a sad experience, but some of those other performances are wonderful, did you catch him in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, his cameo lasted 5 seconds .
Well thanks again, for the work, there is nothing to compare to your shows anywhere, period thats it good night

Cheers H, very much indeedsome.

I did enjoy this one, 'cept there's such a back-cannon of immense quality it was a 'chore' to pick from it. But I think I did the back catalogue justice with the broad selections (&, since, have gone back, re-listened to & changed my opinion on Alice as I was chastised for not 'getting it' in some forum or another out there in the Waitsverse). 'Course, my fumbling tongue & whiskey-addled gobslot ruined what could have been a perfect show...

There WILL be another, under the title of The Waitsing Room II - Cruel Variations, which will be 2 hours of cover versions of Waits' catalogue (date: TBC). I just have to compile a playlist of 2 hours worth, avoiding the likes of Rod Stewart, Scarlett Johansson & so on.

I'm not sure if that'll actually feature me on my own or accompanied by TWoTH, either way there'll be much gabble to be had at the expense of the brawlers, bawlers & bastards pitching their 'talents' at Waitsian perfection.

Cheers, again.

DC
This show was fantastic. I am a big fan of Tom Waits and this show showcased some of my favorites. I too listened to Tom Waits exclusively for a long time because there is so much in every album, lyrics/ melody, feeling really. Still you managed to suprise me with a few facts about TW and his music. Thanks to Mr Toad from the Drunk Covers VI podcast for mentioning the fact that you did this show. I completely missed it and really enjoyed. Do another please with the Woman of the house, I would be interested in hearing her analysis.

beautiful stuff, thanks again, don't drink too much
